Love this pic Ky!!! That Onyx was a wise gentleman. He was ready and brave. I'll never forget him.

Sidebar: Did you see this week's Kathy Griffin, My Life on the D List? She lost her long time best friend Chance (a yellow lab!) from lymphoma. She was terribly upset, and sadly, did not have a chance to say goodbye to him. You definitely had a special chance to give everyone some closure, and I thought it was uncanny and reminded me of Onyx. They are together swimming and fetching, and having a blast!!! :th_b_bighug:

O WOW really? :( believe me i feel MORE that lucky to have had the chance to say goodbye..to spoil him, hug him and not have him suffer.. it was such a shock to find out how sick he was and it was too late..that was the heartbreaker i think well the first one..but every night when its quiet and i go up the stairs he was right next to me...we'd race EVERY night for almost 5 yrs ! even if i didnt feel good etc.. house feels ODD..and empty..but i am so greatful that hes not coughing and gasping to breathe

they ship the ashes to us tomorrow :)

My client told me today of a friend. He had a beloved cat who passed away, and had him cremated. He then gave each of his friends a small vial of ashes and asked them to scatter them somewhere they thought the cat would really like. I thought that was kinda cool.

I'm glad you are able to take Onyx back to HI and the amazing Pacific. :)

hmmm Deb that IS really cool ! we have decided to scatter most and keep some in the urn... its a nice feeling having him here with us.. even if its in an Onyx colored urn..

Alvin put in his leave for R & R already..they all had to do it before they left for "over there" so he put in for last 2 weeks of march..we will meet him in hawaii :) for a 2 week surf vacation.. see friends i miss SO much !! wish i could bring the dogs but cant due to rabies laws etc..while there will reconnect with housing etc..for a smoother transer when we are ready..around fall.. we are staying at little cottages owned by coast guard right on the beach where we surfed ... the dogs FAVORITE place.any beach pics of Onyx are there ! so we will paddle out and have our own little ceremony for him. :)
